Born July 1959, in Montclair NJ to parents P.J. Ryan of Knockenure, Borrisallegh, County Tipperary and Mary Francis,
maiden name Dooley of Coolrain, Port Laois, County Laios.  Parents came to America in 1957 and lived in Montclair, NJ.  
Along with sisters Maureen and Eileen, and brother Eamonn, the family remained in Montclair throughout Grammar and
High School periods.  In 1994 Michael's parents retired back to Ireland where they reside in Templederry, County
Tipperary.

Michael graduated from Immaculate Conception, Montclair, Grammar School and High School, then went to a 16 months
computer training school, Union County Data Processing Institute, then continued education through night school at New
Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark New Jersey, until he achieved an Engineering degree.

Michael has lived in Jersey City, NJ for 17 years with his wife Elizabeth May of New Rochelle, NY.  He has four children
Kelly, Christopher, Claire and Patricia, in addition, there are two grandchildren, Garret and Avery, children of Kelly and
Brandon Guarmer, residing in Virginia.  

Michael has worked in the Fire Alarm Systems business for 25 years and together with his partner Peter Dineen, started
their own business in 1986 and presently are operators of their company.  In addition Michael has spent a great deal of
time developing properties in Jersey City over the past 15 years.  Some signature properties are Cole Street Cafe and PJ
Ryan's Pub.  In addition to developing the properties, operation of the restaurant is under his direction.

Michael supports many aspects of Jersey City and gets actively involved in supporting the needs of Jersey City.  Some
recent achievements are: Hudson County Boys and Girls club, Past Present & Chairman of Jersey City St. Patrick's Day
Parade committee, Friendly Sons of St. Patricks, Ancient Order of Hibernian - Division 9, Newark Ironbound Irish, Elks
Club, Moose Lodge, AOH, Various golf committees and others.

By gathering interest from local business partners, friends and from his vast contacts in our surrounding communities,
Michael feels that he has helped energize the community and will continue to do so.
